"Lines that Groove"  ~ When you hear him playing, you know it’s Mahlon Hawk!

   6-String, 5-String,
 BAD A$$ BASS!

MAHLON  (rhymes with WAYLON)  HAWK, an accomplished freelance bassist, soloist & vocalist,  has performed with bands and creates music ranging in the styles of Jazz & Fusion, Latin, Funk, Rock Blues and R&B.

IN 2024, Mahlon started putting together  "MAHLON HAWK & FRIENDS" -- a group of various musicians for various gigs.   He also continues to accept a limited number of freelance gigs and solo performances.

Playing bass  since age 13, he has performed and recorded with some of the best in the business. His musical career began in the Republic of Panama, where he worked with high profile local bands, cutting his teeth in recording studios, and performing in music videos for prime time TV.

At age 17, he moved to Los Angeles to advance his musical career, appearing with popular LA-based bands as a regular performer on the Southern California club circuit, performing and opening for national acts, recording film scores and CD’s with a variety of artists.

In 2003 he earned an EMMY for his work on a PBS documentary with music producer Bob Stewart.

In 2010 he performed at "Low Notes for Nashville" with BASS MASTERS:  Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Vail Johnson, Adam Nitti, Dave Pomeroy, Bryan Beller, Jonas Hellborg, Doug Johns, Roy Vogt and Steve Lawson.  Mahlon's unique performance of his new arrangement of "Blackbird" and his Latin Jazz spin on "Paco & Dave" brought a whole new twist to the event.

Mahlon has worked with many professional musicians in his career: Bernard Purdie, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Elliott Easton, Oscar Seton, Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez, the Horn section of Tower of Power, The Percussion team of Ruben Blades , Tim Weisberg, Mike Thompson, Bobby Keyes, Robert James, Bobby Cochran, The Drifters, Al Wilson, Richard Street, and others too numerous to mention.    Mahlon has shared the stage with jazz pianist Diane Schuur, Tower of  Power, John Mayall, Robben Ford, Lou Gram, Dennis Quaid, Leon Russell, Shemekia Copeland, Canned Heat, John Hammond, Walter Trout, Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, and the list goes on!

Recorded with: The Latin Monsters, Joshua, Space Arc, soundtrack for the movie "Go For It" for Richard Henn producer, Charles Breckenridge III, Razz Clazz, Lady Mayhem, The Sound Cellar Band, Greg Clayborne, Connie Rae, Teresa Taylor, Cheryl Winn, Kirby & Danny Velarde Band, Summa Totius, Sir Harrison Band, Deep Pocket Thieves, as well as his solo projects.

Mahlon takes his art very seriously, whether working in the studio or performing and is sure to come to any gig extremely well prepared.  Mahlon is a veteran in the industry and those who know him recognize his unique style and know it is Mahlon Hawk.   Bands have said he heightens their performance .

Mahlon, playing with the SIR HARRISON BAND, won the local IBC competition in 2019 to represent Northern Arizona at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis - 2020.
